I, too was saddened to hear of the passing of my uncle, Gerard. He looks so like my Dad (Ed Manning), in this picture. I remember fondly his laughter, his easy banter, and joking. The last time I saw him was home at the kitchen table chatting with Mom. I had surprised them both by showing up unexpectedly that day. I was thrilled to see him and greeted him with a big hug. We laughed well that day.
As a youth, I remember seeing pictures of Gerard in his hockey uniform, and another of him in a suit cutting a dashing look. If I find them again, I will send them, Daphne.
Again, this is a sad time, but one that moves us to remember the best.
Much love. Brenda

I was very saddened to learn of Gerard passing. He was my uncle. He did indeed have a love of sports and gifted me with my first ever baseball glove and bat. He was humorous and caring. Family was so important to him as was exhibited by his commitment to Daphne and his children. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of interacting with him. He was a “good guy”.

My name is Rayburne F. Winsor. I will always remember Gerard when he coached the Pee Wee Hockey team in Conception Bay. I don't think I would have made the grade for the Pee All Star Team) without his encouragement .I went and played with the Pee Wee All Stars to Bell Island in 1959 to compete against their team. Gerard was a kind, thoughtful and caring man , as well as a fine hockey player and coach, and he will always be remembered and loved by everyone who knew him. My brother, Edward Winsor, was a close friend of his, and spoke highly of his enthusiasm and love for sports, especially hockey, as well as for people and family. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to his family and friends. God bless.

Daphne and family, we are so sad to hear of Gerald’s passing! I didn’t know him well but he was always pleasant on the phone when I was looking for Daphne!
Tom, my husband, tells me he was quite a sign painter as they both worked for IOCC!
May he rest in peace in the loving arms of God our loving Father!
With deepest sympathy

Gerard’s family
Sorry to see that Gerard has made his exit from the stage of life.
My fondest memories of him come from my young days growing up in Hr Grace
Gerard was my first minor hockey coach and was devoted to instilling in us the lessons of teamwork and comradeship
He was a role model and helped our group advance in our formative years.
He had a great sense of humour and a larger than life personality .
He had many friends - he was kind and sincere .
Gerard Manning meant a great deal to me and my friends early on and played a significant role in our development .
He will be fondly and warmly remembered .
Sincere condolences to those who mourn his passing
May his eternal rest be in peace
Godspeed Gerard
