Obituary of John Gordon Powell

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Gordon Powell share the news of his passing on February 8th, 2023. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his dog Jake whom he loved like a child; brother Bram (Marlowe); nephews Nolan, Gracen, Brayden; niece Haleigh; Aunt’s Arlene (Pat), Peggy (Gord), Beryl, Gertie (Jim) and Sonia; as well as a large circle of cousins and friends. John was predeceased by his Mom Sharon; Dad Leaz; grandparents and his Uncle Bram. John was born in St. John’s and raised in Labrador City where he grew up living a simple life. He was an accomplished mechanic and operator and worked for IOCC for the majority of his career. He most enjoyed socializing and having a cold one with his buddies and of course spending time with his very best friend Jake. Visitation will take place on Wednesday February 15, 2023 from 7-9 at Temple’s Funeral Home. Details for a Celebration of Life for John are being finalized and will be announced at a later date. We would like to thank everyone for all the support and kind words and would like to request that in memory of John, donations be made to Faith’s Haven who have been amazing in helping with the care of his boy Jake.
