Obituary of Margaret Mary Haskell
Margaret Mary Haskell (nee Brenton) passed away on June 18, 2023 at the age of 83.
Margaret was born in Burin, NL on September 12, 1939 to Frank and Mary Brenton. She was one of 9 children. She married her husband Frank in 1965 and moved to Wabush in 1967.
Margaret was the loving mother of Paula and Denise and grandmother to Malaya and Lynleigh. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nan. She spent countless hours at the Wabush arena watching Malaya skate, taught her patiently to drive and supported her in every decision. Although far away, she sent her Granddaughter Lynleigh a “green one” every month in the mail and loved to shop and spoil her whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Margaret cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was the first to offer help to those in need and lived by the creed, “If you always have something to give to others, you will never truly want yourself”. Margaret did her best to make time for everyone. Her open door policy ensured that there was always time for a visit with friends, a cup of tea and a chat.
Margaret provided support and love for her family and she and her husband Frank worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their children. She would proudly boast about all the accomplishments her 4 girls achieved. She was their greatest protector and loudest cheerleader.
There was a great deal of love in Margaret’s life and her legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren. She was an incredible wife, mother and friend who inspired those who loved her.
