Obituary of Bridget Lorna Corcoran

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bridget Lorna Corcoran announce her passing on December 20th, 2023, at 3:00am at the age of 97. She was a remarkable woman, who was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, spouse and teacher. She was smart, funny, generous, and adventurous. She loved her family more than anything and had a passion for nature and animals. She was a great cook and baker, and she could make even the simplest meal taste delicious. She had a rich and colourful life, and she experienced many things. She was a woman ahead of her time, and she was brave enough to leave her home and pursue her dream of teaching. She taught math on the Northern Peninsula, met her husband in St. Marys and started her family. She was also brave enough to take her young family to Schefferville and then Lab City and be a pioneer in those communities. As of her passing in December mom was the longest living resident of Labrador City who lived there since 1961. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten. She will always be in our hearts, and we will always be in hers. We love you, Mom. Rest in peace. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving members are her children Janet Corcoran and husband Tony Flynn, Clifton Corcoran and spouse Judy Corcoran, Valerie Corcoran; Grandchildren Chayse Corcoran and Sadie Chafe, Pam Coombs and Rob Patterson, Robby and Lindsey Coombs, Thomas Corcoran and Sarah Foster, Stephanie Shadbolt; Great Grandchildren: Parker and Bohdi Patterson, Cameron and Oliver Coombs ;Brothers: Dennis Corcoran, Eugene Corcoran; Sisters: Gladys Hickey, Clara Stevens; as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bridget was predeceased by her parents Michael and Annie Corcoran; brothers Leo Corcoran, Cyril Corcoran, and Fred Corcoran; Husband Peter Corcoran; Daughter Kimberly Shadbolt Special Thanks To: Nazaire Simon (friend and pall bearer), Junior Dawe (friend and pall bearer), all the staff at Labrador West Health Centre Long Term Care, friends and Acquaintances who attended the viewing and service, Vanessa at Temples Funeral Home.
