Obituary of Joan Stamp

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joan Stamp announce her passing on February 12th, 2023 at the age of 96. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are; her sister Beryl (Bill) Remp; her children, Joan (Brian) Hunter, Peggy Chaisson, Joanne Stamp, Paul (Sylvia) Stamp, John (Gail) Stamp; her grandchildren, Marie Hunter (Klaus Haertel), Angela Heidt, Sheldon (Carolyn) Osmond, Amy Osmond (Chris Gaston), Denis (Renelle) Lafleur, Kurt (Jolene) Young, Timothy (Rhonda) Young, Phoebe Young, Jay (Jamie) Fry, Courtney Stamp (Alicia Strang). As well as a large circle of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She has been predeceased by both of her parents, her husband Cyril Stamp, her son Robert Stamp, her son-in-law Hector Chaisson, as well as her sisters Florence, Betty, and Olive. Joan was an incredible woman who left her mark and legacy on Labrador West with her pioneering spirit, kindness and volunteer work. She was an advocate for many organizations and causes, especially when it came to seniors in the Labrador West community. She was always eager to attend events in the community, and socialize with everyone around. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joys in her life. Joan was always there for a chat and a laugh whenever you needed it. Her bright smile and wholesome laugh would light up every room. She was a friend to many and will be missed immensely. Friends and family may visit at Temple's Funeral Home on Tuesday February 14th from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 16th at 2:00pm at the Catholic Church in Labrador City with Father Joy officiating. Service will be live streamed from Temple's Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment to follow at the Labrador City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and surgeons at both the Health Science Centre in St. John’s, NL as well as the Labrador Grenfell Health Center in Labrador City for their exceptional care and support. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Twin City Senior 50+ Club in Joan's Memory.
