Obituary of Margaret Teresa Moyles

Margaret Teresa Moyles (nee Walker) passed away on June 11, 2023, at 74 years of age. Margaret was born in St. John's, NL on July 8, 1948 to Theresa and William Walker. She was the eldest child of 9 children. She studied to become a teacher, and eventually moved to Wabush with her husband Chesley, in 1976. Margaret was the essence of kindness and she always chose to see the best in people. She loved her life in Wabush, her “lazy daisy” yellow house, and would tell anyone and everyone about all the great activities she attended, including aqua fitness, silver sneakers, yoga, SOAR activities, and the various senior’s lunches and socials she attended over the years. She would always be the first person to introduce herself to the new person in the room. She went out of her way to help people feel included. Margaret absolutely loved to dance and sing. She loved to attend musical events at the Arts and Culture Centre. Her family meant the world to her and she was always overjoyed when her son or daughter would visit, especially for her breakfast specialty of peach and blueberry pancakes. She was a good mother to her children, and a mother figure to her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, as well. Margaret looked forward to the beautiful flowers that Ches grew each year, and she loved sitting out in the sun on her back deck by Jean Lake. She got so much joy from the small things - a large Labrador day, a pair of dangly earrings, watching her “whirligigs” spin around in the yard, a good cup of tea. Margaret truly cherished her traditions, like making supper and cake for our birthdays, and leaving up her decorations until after old Christmas Day. Each year she made and handed out hundreds of Halloween treat bags, long after her own kids were grown. Margaret is mourned by her husband of 47 years (Ches), her daughter (Maresa), her son (Matthew), two grandsons (William and Owen), her son-in-law (Ron), her daughter-in-law (Dawn), a sister and two brothers (Dianne, Warrick, and David), as well as a large circle of extended family and long-time friends. Margaret’s quality of life was tragically altered by a disease called Lewy Body Dementia. No person should have to endure what Margaret has in the last few years, and no family should have to bear the loss and grief that comes from such an aggressive disease . We would like to take a moment to recognize and thank those who helped us during Margaret’s health crisis, and especially to thank Margaret’s best friend, her baby sister Dianne, who helped get a proper diagnosis for her, and cared for her for 5 months while she had to stay in Alberta. To family and friends who visited Margaret at home or in the hospital, it meant a lot to us that you took the time. To those who provided meals and support over the last year, your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you to the staff of Long Term Care that helped care for Margaret during her 6 month stay. The small things that went above and beyond medical care - doing her hair and nails, putting on her lipstick, getting her dressed nicely, and including her in activities, even when she couldn’t understand or participate, did not go unnoticed. Margaret was truly a beautiful, thoughtful, and loving person, and losing her has left a hole that could never be filled. In lieu of flowers or charitable donations, we ask that you take a moment to DO something in Margaret’s memory - have a conversation, take a walk, send a card, talk on the phone, make a recipe, or attend an exercise class - these are things Margaret loved to do, and things we often take being able to do for granted. As per her wishes, Margaret will be cremated and will return to her little yellow house in Wabush. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
