Obituary of Robert Weir
It is with great sadness that the family and friends of the late Robert Weir announce his passing on December 3rd, 2023 at 76 years old surrounded by his wife and children.
Bob was born in Little Bay Islands and moved to Labrador City with his family in 1975. He retired with IOC 20 years ago and spent the next chapter enjoying life to the fullest.
Bob leaves to mourn his loving wife Joyce of 55 years; children Kelley(Perry) Pafford, Cindy(Brian) Gaulton and Robbie(Glenda) Weir; grandchildren Demara(Harris), Shyloh and Riley(Amelia); great grandchildren Henry and Alexander; brothers and sisters Harvey(Gail), Joyce(Vincent), Joan(Edward), Garland(Cathy), Vera(Kevin) and Judy(Alton); in-laws Malcolm(Betty), Lloyd(Barbara), Baxter(Donna), Ted (Madge), Mabel, Keyward(Nola), Maxine(Bryce) and Dale(Gary); his Aunt Avice, Uncle Wilbert and Uncle Roy(Carol). Also leaving to mourn a large circle of family and friends.
Bob was pre-deceased by his father and mother Reginald and Laura Weir, his father and mother in law Maxwell and Lucy Osbourne and other special family members.
If you knew Bob, you would know how much he loved his wife Joyce and his children. He was further blessed with his grandchildren. He was so proud of them and they loved him dearly. Then along came his great grandchildren who he absolutely adored.
Bob was a person who would help anyone in need. He never gave it a second thought. He was someone that you could always depend on. Bob was a wonderful family man and the world was brighter with him in it. The loss is felt tremendously by everyone who loved him.
Bob will be cremated according to his wishes. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Our family would like to say thank you to the wonderful staff at the Health Sciences Centre. The care he received was phenomenal. During his final weeks at Labrador Grenfell Health we were treated like family. They just opened their arms to all of us with so much love. It is something we will never forget. We would also like to say thank you to the many family and friends for their overwhelming support during this stressful time.
As expression of sympathy, donations can be made to Faiths Haven Animal Shelter where Bob spent a lot of time helping in many ways. His absence will certainly be noticed. Or Daffodil Place. Our family quickly found out the importance of this much needed facility and others like it.
