Obituary of David Parr
It is with great sadness that the family of the late David Freeman Parr announce his passing on May 24 2024, at the Labrador West Long Term Care Facility in Labrador City. David was born in Port Hope Simpson on March 28, 1944. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are: Spouse: Vietta Lawless. Step-Children: Ashley Lawless (Susan) & Ashten Lawless Siblings: Elizabeth Hicks (Lloyd), William (Doreen), Alex (Wanda) & Dennis (Sheila) As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Predeceased by: Father William (1991), Mother Rachel (2013) & Nephew Barton Hicks (1993)
David was a quiet man with lots of wit, a dry sense of humor and loved to torment. Tough as nails on the outside but deep inside he was a soft caring man. In his younger days he worked as a fisherman in Sandy Hook with his family. In later years he took over the family general Store in Port Hope Simpson, working seven days a week fifty-one weeks a year until his retirement. He loved his country music, and took pride in caring for his snowmobiles and vehicles. He treasured his family and friends. He treated his spouse Vietta like a queen.
Visitation will be held at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Port Hope Simpson on Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 11am to 4pm; Family & Friends Service on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at 7pm; Funeral service to be held on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 4pm with Pastor Troy Russell officiating. The Interment will follow at the Port Hope Simpson Pentecostal Cemetery. As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Labrador West Long Term Care in Labrador City & Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle Port Hope Simpson.
